Mastering Bitcoin
Mastering Bitcoin is Andreas M. Antonopoulos’s technical guide to how bitcoin works. First published by O’Reilly Media in 2014 and revised in 2017, it was updated for a third edition in 2023, which added taproot, tapscript, schnorr signatures, and modern fee and relay mechanisms. The third edition is available from O’Reilly and booksellers, and its full text is openly licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

“Crystal Clear. Well written and authoritative work. Has helped clear the haze around Blockchain technology.”

“This is the best book on the market if you really want to know the nuts and bolts of Bitcoin and the Blockchain. If you are serious about understanding the technology, this is the only book you will need. Well written and quite easy to follow.”

“Mastering Bitcoin is the best technical reference available on bitcoin today. And bitcoin is likely to be seen in retrospect as the most important technology of this decade. As such, this book is an absolute must-have for any developer, especially those interested in building applications with the bitcoin protocol. Highly recommended.”
